Got a PS3? Get Some Cheap Blu-Rays

Blazing Saddle Blu-ray Cover

If you purchased a Playstation 3 but haven’t really used it much for the Blu-ray functionality, Amazon can set you up with some good deals. They’ve started up a Summer Blu-ray Blowout and many blu-rays are even up to 50% off. Some of the more notable titles include Blade Runner (5-disc complete collectors edition), The Fifth Element, 300 and Pulp Fiction. That’s just a few too. Believe me, there are lots to choose from.

Blu-ray Too Wimpy for Metal Gear Solid 4

This really blows my mind. Ryan Payton, the producer over at Kojima Productions has stated that on the Japanese version of Metal Gear Solid 4 only has enough room for the Japanese language track and won’t include the English language track. Obviously, this goes for the American version as well, only the other way around. I can’t believe this game is this huge. Looks like companies are gonna have to think of better compression options or something.

Blu-Ray Vs. HD DVD: The War’s Over

HD DVD Logo

Well, that’s it folks. The war over the next-generation video format is over. Toshiba has officially announced that they will no longer be supporting the HD DVD format. I think we all knew it was coming as of recently. Best Buy began supporting Blu-ray, Netflix dropped the HD DVD, and the killer; Walmart. When Walmart dropped HD DVD support, that was the final touch. Oh yeah, EB Games/Gamestop will also no longer be taking HD DVD’s or the players for the 360 either.

I wonder how many people are really on the fence about buying a next-gen gaming console due to the format wars. We just might see a huge jump in the numbers for Sony soon.
