Want Game? Need ID.

There’s a new bill in congress right now that would force retailers to card buyers during their purchase of M or AO rated video games. Not only will the employees have to ask for ID though, they will also have to post explanations of what the ratings from the ESRB mean.

To be completely honest, I think this is what the video game industry needs. Gamers catch so much flak for minors getting their hands on mature rated games and something like this might be able to throw some of that flak back into the medias face. It sucks that games might be lumped into the same category of purchases as cigerettes, alchohol and nudie mags, but if retailers can’t enforce the rules, this is what happens. I guess we’ll see how this all pans out.
