Happy Tree Friends Game Coming to Xbox Live

Happy Tree Friends

I just got an email from the spam department over at the Happy Tree Friends headquarters, and it announced to me that Happy Tree Friends: False Alarm will be coming to Xbox Live and PC’s on June 25th. The trailer looks pretty funny. Check it out here. I love that cartoon.

Older Offspring Titles Coming to Rock Band

The Offspring Smash Cover

According to news update on the official Offspring website, more of their music is on it’s way to Rock Band. More importantly, some of their older work. I’m not really a fan of them anymore, but I loved their old stuff. This was back in the days of Ixnay on the Hombre and Smash. So, the great news is that songs from those days are coming and I shall be purchasing. Here’s the list of songs mentioned.

  • Come Out and Play (Keep ‘Em Separated)
  • Self Esteem
  • Gone Away
  • All I Want
  • Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)
  • The Kids Aren’t Alright

Yahtzee Reviews Haze; Talks Shit

After a short break, Yahtzee is back and this time he’s reviewing a first-person shooter called Haze. I remember something about cake, cardboard forests, and Afroman. Check it out below

Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday

Two more games this Wednesday for all you Xbox Live Arcade fans. Both games can be picked up for 800 Microsoft points.

Sea Life Safari
Sea Life Safari places you in the wonderful world of the deep sea, where you get to take pictures of the colorful life in the water. Aspiring photographers may want to pick this up. YOUNG aspiring photographers that is.

Elements of Destruction
Elements of Destruction gives you the powers of creating disastors, using elements such as tornadoes, lightning, and earthquakes. Basically, you were fired, created a machine that lets you control nature, and took revenge on the company who fired you. This sounds like a fun one.

v2.36 Firmware for PS3 Available

The v2.36 firmware update for the Playstation 3 was announced just yesterday as coming soon, and it turns out, that it was actually last night. This update is just a minor update that’s meant to improve system stability while playing select Playstation format titles. That’s about it. So boot up the PS3 and update.

In Game XMB Finally Confirmed

PS3 XMB

In a blog post today from the Playstation Blog, PSN Network Operations Director, Eric Lempel confirmed that the in-game XMB will be coming in firmware update v2.40. On top of that, it will also include “trophies” which will be the Playstation 3’s form of the Xbox 360’s “achievements.” These are some pretty cool features. The only bad thing is that the next firmware update is v2.36, so there are still a few updates to go before we see these new features. At least we know they’re coming though

Punk Rock on Rock Band

The Offspring

The latest tracks for Rock Band are available for download. You can pick up “Rock and Roll Dream” by Crooked X, “Critical Acclaim” and “Afterlife” by Avenged Sevenfold, and “Hammerhead” from The Offspring. I really like that new Offspring song. You can pick them up on the Xbox 360 for 160 points each except for the Crooked X song which is only 80 points. You can find ’em on the PS3 on Thursday.

FaceBreaker Gameplay Video

Finally some actual gameplay from the FaceBreaker game. There has been a ton of character introduction videos, but no gameplay, but the latest introduction of the character named “Spin” features him fighting another character in the game. Check it out.

Wiikly Update: Back to Three Edition

The Wiikly update is back to the regular three titles a week, which is easier for me because I don’t have to type as much. Not that I type much anyway, right? So this week, there’s two WiiWare titles; Block Breaker Deluxe and Cocoto Fishing, and one Virtual Console title; Samurai Shodown.

Block Breaker Deluxe looks ok, but I think those games are a little played out. The boss battles look fun though. Cocoto Fishing Master actually looks like it could be a lot of fun too. I normally don’t care much for fishing games but this one has a cartoony design, uses odd fish and bait, and the best thing; using the Wiimote to fish. Last of all is Samurai Shodown. Lastly, is Samurai Shodown. Basically, if you like 2d fighting games, this is a must own. I loved this game when I was younger. Pick it up. Here’s the official press release from Nintendo.

This week’s additions to the Wii Shop Channel will have players setting their sights on a wild variety of targets. From solid walls to wriggling fish to fierce samurai warriors, you’ll face plenty of fresh and unusual challenges as you master these distinctive games, each featuring an inventive twist on a proven formula. You’ll also notice the ongoing expansion of both WiiWare and Virtual Console offerings, bringing you the best of what’s new along with classic titles that hold fond memories.

Nintendo adds new and classic games to the Wii Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week’s new games are:

WiiWare
Block Breaker Deluxe
Block Breaker Deluxe (Gameloft, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone-Mild Suggestive Themes, 800 Wii Points): Prepare for the frenzy of the coolest block-breaker game ever. Block Breaker Deluxe is a reinvention of the classic arcade brick-breaker game with a trendy graphical style, fun atmosphere and an exclusive multiplayer mode. Lively characters and amazing graphics provide distinctive settings of the jet-set nightlife, including a cool bar, dance club, casino and more. Special bricks, multiple bonuses, secret weapons, paddle size options and ball-speed variations make this fascinating game even more challenging. The Block Breaker Deluxe rage has arrived.
Cocoto Fishing Master
Cocoto Fishing Master (Neko Entertainment, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone, 700 Wii Points): Welcome to the adventures of Cocoto, Fishing Master. Get ready for a completely new experience on Wii. Play the role of Cocoto and travel the world to find five millennial fish. Only they can stop the magic cauldron from overflowing with lava and prevent the world from being destroyed. Thanks to Cocoto Fishing Master for Wii, fishing has never been such fun. Use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers like a real fishing rod to catch more than 30 different fish. Discover five enchanted lakes in five different worlds from Cocoto’s universe. Confront gigantic bosses to collect each fragment of the statuette that will allow you to wake the great god Geo from his slumber. Meet Cocoto’s friends, sell your fish to Baggy and buy new fishing equipment from Neuro’s shop.

Virtual Console
Samurai Shodown
SAMURAI SHODOWN (NEOGEO, 1-2 players, Rated T for Teen-Animated Blood, Crude Humor, Violence, 900 Wii Points): This first entry in the extremely popular and revolutionary fighting-game series was released in 1993. Choose from 12 swordsmen with highly individualistic characteristics and fight furiously, ultimately confronting the evil Amakusa Shiro Tokisada. Each character wields his or her own specific weapon, but you must be careful not to lose it during the heat of battle. Some of the fighters also bring an animal companion into the fray, offering a unique aspect to the quick-paced action. Another significant feature of the game is the anger gauge, which indicates the level of anger felt by each of the combatants as they suffer repeated injuries. If the anger reaches its maximum level, the attacking ability of the character increases, leading to even more intense confrontations. Through it all, the refined camera system smoothly zooms in and out of the playing field, presenting the frenzy of the battle while showcasing the lively background (watch as the referee scores hits). Awaken the samurai spirit within and get ready for a new kind of fight.

PSP v4.00 Update: Some Minor Changes

The new software update for the PSP should be out anytime now, if it isn’t already. You’ll just have to check. This update adds a few new features, the first of which being Google search functionality directly in the XMB. That’s simple. The other feature gives you the ability to change viewing speed during playback of videos on you Memory Stick PRO Duo. Not much, but not bad.
